Here’s a juice that provides as much protein as a glass of milk, with the added benefit of lowering your cholesterol while tempering inflammation, thanks to its antioxidant properties. Its main ingredients, spirulina and chlorella, have also been shown to lower blood pressure, which may lower the risk for cardiovascular diseases (including stroke) in people with elevated blood pressure.
As an added bonus, spirulina has been shown to alleviate allergy symptoms. Yes, this juice delivers all these benefits and more, thanks to its powerful ingredients. It also has a smooth, fresh, earthy flavor.
Ingredients
4 cucumbers, quartered 4
1 lime, peeled and halved 1
2 red apples, cored and sliced 2
1 tbsp spirulina powder 15 mL
1 tbsp chlorella powder 15 mL
Instructions
1. Using a juicer, process half each of the cucumbers, lime and apples.
2. Following the same order, repeat with the remaining cucumbers, lime and apple.
3. Add spirulina and chlorella and whisk well. Serve immediately.
