This sweet, tangy but spicy juice is an excellent way to find your get-up-and-go in the mornings. The capsaicin in cayenne pepper fights inflammation and stimulates circulation, as well as reducing blood cholesterol, triglyceride levels and platelet aggregation (blood clotting), all of which are risk factors for cardiovascular disease and some forms of dementia.
Ingredients
4 red apples, cored and sliced 4
1 lemon, peeled and halved 1
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper 0.5 mL
Instructions
1. Using a juicer, process half each of the apples and lemon.
2. Following the same order, repeat with the remaining fruit.
3. Add cayenne and whisk well. Serve immediately.
