Feel a sniffle coming on? Feeling a little down, with a slight fever kicking in? You’ll want to juice up this combo two or three times a day to help fight off pending flu or even a seasonal cold.
This health-promoting elixir is a delicious way to get your daily dose of garlic, cayenne, ginger and lemon, all of which have been linked with antiviral properties.
Ingredients
1 cucumber, quartered 1
2 green apples, cored and sliced 2
1/2 cup packed chopped kale leaves 125 mL
1 lemon, peeled and halved 1
2 cloves garlic 2
1 1/4-inch (0.5 cm) piece peeled gingerroot 1
1 1/8-inch (3 mm) piece peeled turmeric root 1
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper 0.5 mL
Instructions
1. Using a juicer, process half each of the cucumber, apples, kale, lemon and garlic, plus the turmeric and ginger.
2. Following the same order, repeat with the remaining apple, kale, lemon and garlic.
3. Add cayenne and whisk well. Serve immediately.
