This tropical-tasting juice will supercharge your body with a boost of healing nutrients. Pineapple is rich in bromelain, a sulfur-containing proteolytic (protein-digesting) enzyme, which is excellent for reducing inflammation and has been used experimentally as an anticancer agent.
Pineapple also provides the trace mineral manganese, an essential cofactor in a number of enzymes used for energy production and antioxidant defense. You’ll also love the earthy taste and the anticancer benefits that the romaine and spinach leaves provide.
Ingredients
1 pineapple, skin removed, cut into wedges 1
1 cucumber, quartered 1
1 cup packed chopped romaine lettuce leaves 250 mL
1 cup packed chopped spinach leaves 250 mL
1 1/8-inch (3 mm) piece peeled turmeric root 1
Instructions
1. Using a juicer, process half each of the pineapple, cucumber, romaine and spinach, plus the turmeric.
2. Following the same order, repeat with the remaining pineapple, cucumber, romaine and spinach.
3. Whisk well and serve immediately.
