Juicing for Depression

juice cleansing

Depression isn’t just a result of a single poisoned part of our brain or central nervous system. Rather, depression and other
diseases associated with mental health signify a deeper disconnect.

Think about it…if you have an abscessed tooth, for example, it’s basically a warning sign that the body is overloaded with toxins and needs cleansing. To just have the tooth removed is dealing only with the effect and not with the cause of the signaling trouble.

Similarly, when it comes to depression, cleansing and properly nourishing the body, eliminating processed and toxic foods from the diet (which have created the condition) and drinking an abundance of fresh raw organic daily juices is the best solution to help you begin to overcome this issue.

You wouldn’t expect to feed your body on junk food and expect to have thriving health. The same goes for having a healthy thriving mind.

In addition, there are specific fruits and veggies you can juice that will directly affect your mood and help lift depression.

Damaging molecules called free radicals, which are produced in our bodies during normal body functions, contribute to aging and dysfunction. Antioxidants like beta-carotene and vitamin C have been shown to combat the effects of free radicals.

Studies show that the brain is particularly at risk for free radical damage. There’s no way to stop free radicals completely – they are a normal byproduct of body functions. But you can reduce their destructive effect by juicing foods rich in antioxidants, including:

  • Sources of beta-carotene: broccoli, cantaloupe, carrots, collards, and spinach
  • Sources of vitamin C: broccoli, oranges, strawberries, and tomato

Vitamin E is also an excellent antioxidant shown to help with depression. Nuts and seeds are a particularly healthy source of Vitamin E. These incredible foods also contain omegas which are linked to better mental health.

All health begins on your plate – or in this case, in your cup. If you treat yourself to excellent wholesome raw juices (along with an abundance of raw foods in the diet) to build a healthy disease-free body, you will develop a healthy mental well-being.
